Welcome to
Old Town Tubac...

It all began in 1691 with Father Eusebio Kino's establishment of the Catholic mission at Tumacacori, followed by the strategic positioning of a Spanish garrison, the Tubac Presidio, a few miles upriver, along the Santa Cruz, to protect the mission, its Pima Indian community, and the settlers of northernmost New Spain from Apache incursions.

So, to appreciate Tubac as an artists' community, start your tour of Old Town at the Tubac Presidio State Park, then join us across the street at Aldea de Artisticas, an intentional artists' community in the heart of Old Town Tubac.
